Description
Comparing numbers greater than and less than 0 -100. This Interactive SMARTboard Notebook file lesson and activity helps students comprehend the terms greater than, less than, and equal, along with the symbols for comparing numbers with the help of their new friend Cronk the Crocodile.
Slides 1-5 – Explanation of the terms greater than, less than, equal to and the introduction of the symbols and Cronk the Crocodile.
Slides 6 – 13 – Interactive activity – have students come up and finish the comparison by dragging the correct crocodile/ symbol to make the statement true. If the correct symbol is chosen it spins into place, if the incorrect symbol is chosen it bounces back. Students will be comparing numbers 1 through 100, with 2 slides comparing numbers with Base 10 Blocks.
Slides 14 – 16 – “Now it’s time to make your own!” The symbol is given and students have to come up and write numbers to make statement true.
Slides 17 – 19 – “Circle the number “- Students come up and circle the correct number to answer the questions. i.e. Slide 17 – “Circle the number that is greater than 17”
Slide 20 – Description of what to do on each slide, answers for each slide, along with some helpful tips.
