Students will learn where it originated, and why and how it is celebrated around the world. The text is simple, concise and summarizes Lunar New Year in a kid-friendly way. Students will brainstorm what they know, wonder and want to learn about Lunar New Year, practice spelling the word, watch a video story about Lunar New Year, and drag and drop vocabulary about how it is celebrated. Lunar New Year Virtual Field Trip is easy to use:
- You will be prompted to make a copy of the presentation in your Google Slides
- Project it on your screen or have students complete it on a computer or iPad
- You read the text on the slides or have students read them aloud
- As a class, fill out the know/wonder/learn slides
- On the drag and drop slides, you can have students take turns moving the moveable pieces
- Spot the countries on the map where Lunar New Year is celebrated
- Watch the video story as a class
- Complete the directed drawing slide and display the art or turn it into a "Happy New Year" greeting card. The directed drawing video is in English.
The Google Slides in the Lunar New Year Virtual presentation include:
- A title page that says "Let's Celebrate Lunar New Year"
- A Know/Wonder/Learn chart for students to brainstorm and fill in the text boxes
- A calendar showing the dates it's celebrated
