Lucy Calkins Writing Kindergarten Unit 3 Outlines - editable

This is a word document of all 19 Sessions in the Unit 3 “How-To Books” manual for Lucy Calkins kindergarten writing (published in 2013). Teachers College Reading and Writing Project suggests that kindergarten teachers teach this unit in Jan/Feb and first-grade teachers teach it in Oct/Nov. The body of the text is fully editable. The footer is the only part protected.

Each outline includes a brief synopsis of the:

Each outline is a maximum of one page, so they are quick to read when lesson planning and easy to skim just before teaching. Specific pages in the How-To Books manual are referenced when visuals were provided that I found useful.

These are my own personal outlines that I made for my own personal use. You may find small imperfections in my syntax or silly spelling errors. I am selling this as a word document so that you can alter and edit the outlines to fit your needs, teaching style, and interpretation of the Lucy Calkins writing curriculum.

I created this particular set of outlines from the perspective of a first-grade teacher. A few of the anchor charts and mentor text portions are adapted from the original to fit with my first-grade curriculum. If you are a kindergarten teacher, you will want to go through and adjust those 5-6 parts to meet your needs – the document is editable just for this reason!
