Louisiana Social Studies DBQ: American Colonies WITH Poster/Anchor Chart!

This Source Study aligns with Louisiana Grade 4 Social Studies, Unit 2 Topic 2 (but it can also be used in later units/topics as a review!)

I use these “weekly” sources with my 4th grade social studies classes. We usually spend about two weeks analyzing the sources and answering the questions. I start them off with only two sources, move up to three sources around October/November, then up to four sources around March. Some of the sources are created by me and some are taken from the LEAP 2025 practice test. We start out slow…I want them to get comfortable with “sources” and understand that looking and analyzing are totally different. By the end of the year, my students are VERY familiar with sources and they know how to write about them and connect their ideas. Last year my students LEAP 2025 social studies scores jumped up by 14 points and 99% of them scored STRONG in all writing categories.
