Description

The livestock terminology unit is a 6 day lesson that teaches students the terminology of mature female, young female, castrated male, intact male, genus, agricultural product, offspring, and parturition for sheep, cattle, goats, swine, horse, and chickens.

It is a very hands on unit that includes Bellwork and Objectives for each day, livestock terminology Notes, livestock terminology annotations, livestock terminology chart, mock scrotum lab, castration lab, spoons review game, and livestock terminology test.

Day 1 you will go over the terminology of mature versus young, castrated, intact, agriculture product, offspring, and parturition. Look in the notes section of each Bellwork day and it will go over more specifics of everything.

On Day 1 and 2 students will annotate and mark up the text to find the terminology and definition for each livestock species while reading a one page paper about each livestock animal. Once they have finished they will then fill in the chart to help reinforce the material and make it easier for studying.

Days 3 and 4 students will make mock scrotums and learn how to castrate on their mock scrotums.

Day 5 students will play the card game spoons using the livestock definition and term.

Day 6 students will take the livestock terminology test.
