Description

This is ideal for beginner level animal science/animal nutrition. Students who are not ready to tackle the Pearson Square or more complex terms like palability can still conduct this lab and understand why feed comes in a variety of forms. I use this lab after covering common livestock feedstuffs where students learn about the common feedstuffs, what their purpose is, etc. We follow up with this lab so students gain a deeper understanding of why some feed is pelletized, why some feedstuff is grainy, and more. Lab includes instructions, question sheets, teacher notes and buying list of lab supplies in an informal lesson plan layout. For 50 students this lab costs around $50-$60.

Even with a class of 25 this can be conducted within a 50 minute class period as long as you set up the materials ahead of time. You may need to allow extra time for answering questions if you have IEP/ELL students.
