Description

This is a student workbook that accompanies the book "Why the Sun and Moon Live in the Sky". We did this as one part of a literature-based Social Studies unit on Folktales (1st Grade).

It includes:
- story elements like "who?', "what?" and "where?"
- sequencing story pictures
- matching words to pictures
- cloze sentences about the story
- a story board (setting, characters, plot).

This unit includes differentiated elements such as all vocabulary included in a table for easy cutting and pasting (for students with fine-motor challenges), ASL picture support and color coding across worksheets to assist with comprehension (e.g. "Who" = blue and this concept is carried over to the Story Board where blue = characters).

This workbook has ASL support in the form of ASL pictures for key vocabulary. These pictures helped my students to be able to work more independently.

Thank you to Dr. Bill Vicars for providing these images. Please visit life print.com for great ASL images and resources.
