    Description

Engage your students for MONTHS with this fun bundle of literary short film workshops! Literary Focus: theme, plot, conflict, setting, foreshadowing, flashback, character traits, dialogue, and more. Tried and true winners with students and teachers!

DEFECTIVE DETECTIVE FILM SUMMARY: A detective with a "defective" overreactive imagination tries to solve a case, but instead ends up angering an old lady who he thinks is in trouble. He picks up on all of the wrong clues and believes she is being assaulted, but in reality, she is only trying to make soup in her kitchen. This film is perfect for studying internal and external conflict because much of the conflict is in the detective's imagination, but he creates external conflict by acting upon his thoughts.

SNACK ATTACK FILM SUMMARY: A cranky old lady believes the teen boy on the bench next to her is stealing her cookies. But the truth is, she stole his cookies! She is embarrassed to learn that she had left her own cookies in her purse and had been eating from the boy's pack, and that he had graciously been sharing with her, despite her poor treatment of him. A wonderful theme emerges. Never judge people based on their age or appearance!

THE PRESENT SUMMARY: A young boy seems to be awful! He disrespects his mother when she gifts him with a new puppy. He even treats the puppy terribly when he discovers it is missing a leg. But a plot twist and beautiful theme emerge when viewers realize the boy is acting out because he has also lost a leg. Eventually the playful pup helps the boy rediscover himself, and students learn that things aren't always as they seem upon first appearance.

JOY AND HERON FILM SUMMARY: A cute puppy, Joy, scuffles with an ornery Heron when the bird tries to steal her owner's fishing worms. But a beautiful theme emerges when Joy learns that Heron is only trying to feed her hungry babies. Joy has a change of heart and learns not to judge without understanding. This film is a great way to foster empathy in students.

GLUED FILM SUMMARY: In this funny film, a mother realizes her child is addicted to video games so she tries desperately to persuade him to play outside. Finally, in a hilarious climactic moment, the mother snaps and begins tossing all of his video games outside.
