Description
This linear word problem investigation is the fifth lesson in my Algebra 2 Unit over Linear and Absolute Value Functions (Unit 2). Given a situation, students will determine the slope, identify what it means, write an equation in point-slope form and then convert to slope-intercept form, make predictions using the equation and analyze intercepts.
This investigation activity incorporates concepts included in the following previous lessons:
- Lesson 1: Graphing Linear Equations Review
- Lesson 2: Intercepts and Equations of Vertical/Horizontal Lines Review
- Lesson 3: Writing Equations of Lines Review
- Lesson 4: Parallel and Perpendicular Lines Review
I review Linear Functions with my Algebra 2 students more quickly than I do in Algebra 1; however, I have found that some students may need a little extra time to review linear functions. Should you need to go at a slower pace for your Algebra 2 students, you may find the sequencing and pace of my Algebra 1 Linear Functions Unit beneficial.
