What educators are saying

I love how this resource connects the graph to the equation and what the variables represent. It gets students thinking!

Description

Nine total Linear Equation Word Problems. Problems include the use of slope-intercept, standard and point-slope forms - 3 problems of each form of a linear equation.

As students typically struggle with word problems and have a hard time making connections between variable relationships, each problem includes a graphic organizer in which the student will work through understanding the problem and writing an equation for it, graphing it, identifying and understanding the slope and y-intercept OR the x and y intercepts, and solving the problem.

TUTORIAL VIDEOS included (no prep to you!) and can be found on my YouTube Channel: mandy’s math world- the videos are on the Linear Functions Unit Playlist! The tutorial video will include one example over each of the types of problems, leaving 6 of the problems for students to complete on their own. This is GREAT for distance learning as well as for students who are absent or who need to see the lesson again!

This is meant to last one class period; however, rather than rushing these concepts, I would recommend using two days to go over it! I do not give homework over word problems - I find students struggle too much and would rather them do it correctly with me than wrong and on their own! But that is just what I have found to work over the years!

This is the ninth lesson in my Linear Functions Unit Bundle!
