This interpreting line plots with fractions activity includes 30 line plots task cards to solve and a worksheet for recording answers during the scavenger hunt. The scavenger hunt format naturally motivates students to work through these challenging reading graphs math problems!
To use this line plots activity, place all 30 task cards in secret places around the room. Students will hunt for a task card, solve the line plots problem on that card, and write the answer on their worksheet. Then, students will look around the room to find that answer written on top of a different card. When they find the card with that answer, they solve the next problem and go searching again. Students love the challenge of finding all of the cards!
All line plots in this activity contain fractional units by 1/2, 1/4, or 1/8. Most of the problems require students to use fraction operations at a 5th grade math level.
