How to use your light box for classroom passwords:
Last year, I started thinking of quick and easy ways to incorporate reading words throughout the day. The beginning of the year is especially difficult because the kiddos don’t know how to read yet. Using your light box for “passwords” is the perfect way to get those kiddos reading!
Your light box should be displayed for the kiddos to easily see when they walk into the classroom. Every day, display a different word in the light box.
When your students enter the classroom, they must read the "password".
Yourself (the teacher) or your assistant can be responsible for changing the word, but that can easily be given as a classroom job to a student. Or, you can give a student the job of reminding the teacher to change the word when the teacher forgets (which I am completely guilty of sometimes)!

This GLITTERY SET includes numbers 0-20, color words, 2D shapes, letters A-Z with their beginning sounds, and now 3D Shapes (updated 8/20/17)! All you need to do is print on transparency or vellum paper to make for your own classroom Password light box! I've got you covered for the first 83 days of kindergarten!
2D shapes included: circle, square, triangle, rectangle, oval, rhombus & diamond, hexagon, octagon, and trapezoid.
Beginning Sounds: Both long and short vowel sounds are included. (red letters are vowels, blue letters are consonants)
3D shapes included: cone, cubes, cylinders, hemisphere, pyramid, rectangular prism, triangular prism, and sphere.
