Description
Are you looking for life skills math PBL projects? This community action project is your ticket. Self-directed community action projects incorporate project-based learning elements such as sustained inquiry, authentic learning experiences and outcomes, community collaborations, and more.
Community action projects ask students to deeply explore one issue or problem in the community (locally, nationally, or globally), a problem that they identify through research, questioning, and observation. Students brainstorm solutions to the issue or problem, develop a plan of action, and act!
This particular project incorporates life skills math; identifying, analyzing, and utilizing trending data. Students choose their community issue of interest for this project by examining existing data sets for trends. Students select their topic for this project by analyzing those trends to determine which community issues are the most pressing, relevant, and/or in need of attention right now.
This self-directed community action project offers all of the templates to guide you and students seamlessly through this experience from start to finish. There is NO prep on your part because the students lead the projects. Your job is to facilitate this experience. The teacher guide included helps you to do so.
