Life Skills Lesson. It is important that students learn how to protect themselves from fraud and scams in our society. Last year, 25 million consumers were victims of fraud. Each year, the number of fraud incidents continue to climb at an alarming rate. The best defense against students becoming victims is by learning to be an aware and informed consumer. These learning materials focus on teaching students about fraud and scams, how and why they occur, the warning signs, and the role of FTC.
This lesson is in Google Doc format and PDF format.
Objectives: Students will be able to:
· Explain the purpose of advertisements.
· Identity the different advertisement strategies.
· Explain why it is important to understand the different advertisement strategies.
· Define fraud and scams.
· Identify the different types of fraud and scams.
· Use strategies to recognize and avoid fraud and scams.
· Explain the role of Federal Trade Commission.
