    Description

Are your students ready to begin research projects on the life cycles of plants and animals? Are you looking for a rigorous yet engaging writing project that integrates science? These interactive projects allow students to research the life cycle of an apple, ant, bat, bee, butterfly, chicken, frog, ladybug, plant, pumpkin, salmon and turkey! These writing projects are an ideal way for the teacher to integrate science, the reading of nonfiction texts, research, and informational writing.

Included in the download are 12 life cycle projects! This gives students the power of choice when writing about a life cycle. The process is simple. Students research, take notes, write reports on the interactive fan pages, and create the craft. This can be completed in writing centers, as group work, or independently. Let students choose the animal they want to research, or start together in groups or as a whole class. When complete, students can fan the project into a circular shape to represent the never-ending life cycle.

    Included are life cycles of:

    • an apple
    • an ant
    • a bat
    • a bee
    • a butterfly
    • a chicken
    • a frog
    • a ladybug
    • a plant
    • a pumpkin
    • a salmon
    • a turkey

    EACH life cycle project includes:

    • a list of my favorite books and websites for research
    • life cycle word wall cards
    • life cycle graphic organizer for students to label
    • graphic organizers for taking notes, with prompts
    • publishing pages in the fan format
    • complete answer keys

    Process:

Students use the provided note-taking sheets to research the life cycle.
They then transfer the notes onto the fans. The note taking sheets are filled with writing prompts to help students write, and the publishing pages match the prewriting sheets exactly, make the publishing process simple!

    This project is ideal for:

    • practicing note-taking
    • introducing research
    • for center work
    • fast finishers
    • independent projects
    • group work
    • as a supplement to your science unit
