What educators are saying

This was a great motivator to review where things were in the library, as well as explain new procedures. I loves how it could be edited!!! Thanks!!
This was a fun and engaging way for students to review what they'd learned in the library. It helped solidify their understanding of how to find things independently.

Description

A library orientation activity that will get your older kids up and out of their seats!! Part scavenger hunt and part Scoot, students will travel to certain parts of the library in search of a certain picture. Once they have found that picture, they will need to answer a library orientated question. Then, they are off searching for another picture and another question!

Perfect for kids to work on in partners and small groups. No more boring, eye-rolling library orientations. Get them moving during that first week of school!!

Libraries are as unique as those that run them, so the game cards are COMPLETELY editable in Microsoft Word. Just open up in Word, and you will have the ability to change the text on each card. You will also get step-by-step directions, a set of start-up picture cards, 20 scavenger hunt clues, and an editable recording sheet. Go ahead … Put the fun back into orientation!

What's Included?

✅ Step-by-step instructions

✅ Startup picture cards to be used with introduction

✅ Twenty EDITABLE scavenger hunt clues {These are "hidden" throughout your library in locations pertinent to your orientation.}

✅ EDITABLE recording sheet {Students fill in the blanks from information found at the different scavenger hunt locations)

⭐This was a fun and super engaging way to do library orientation with my 3rd graders who have been through orientation with me for the past 3 years! It gave them a new, interactive way to explore the changes I made over the summer and remind themselves where resources are located.

⭐ This was such a fun activity to do to start the year with my 4th and 5th graders! They loved getting up and moving, and I loved that I could customize it to my library. No more boring orientations!

⭐ The kids were completely engaged and learned all about our library learning commons without me having to do any type of stand and deliver. Excellent feedback from my staff.
