Library Hunt Call Number Search: The BIG Bundle

Library Hunt Call Number Search for the year is finally here, and the bundle is huge! The Library Hunt Bundle provides you with 10 themed hunts that create the opportunity for students to practice searching for books in your catalog. They then use that information to locate the book in the stacks. These searches focus on the fiction and everybody fiction sections of your library. In my library, I use this with 1st through 5th grades. I teach this skill heavily the second half of first grade and all of second grade. I use 3 different searches with each of those grade levels, 2 with 3rd grade, and 1 with each of 4th and 5th as a review and for new students to our building. Once you've decided which hunts to do with each grade level, students never have a "repeat" hunt!

Each hunt begins with a story (not included) that sets the scene for hunting the hidden character. Each packet comes with the following items:
• Game directions
• Themed title cards
• Themed cards for hiding in books
• Editable title cards (this allows you to customize for your library)
• List of all books used in the hunts

Please note that all titles chosen for the hunts are either popular authors/titles or came from the Newbery or Caledecott winner's lists to increase the likelihood that you would own the book already. In the event that there are 1 or 2 books you don't own, simply use the editable template to create a title card for the hunt.
