Description

Have students practice reading comprehension and close reading skills daily with this original, high-interest poem and close reading activities.

There is 1 literature (fiction) poem Liam The Lucky Leprechaun presented at 2 reading levels (1st-2nd grade and 2nd-3rd grade).  There are 8 close reading activities for K grade, 5 close reading activities for 1st-2nd grade, and 5 close reading activities for 2nd-3rd grade, for a total of 18 activities. The order of activities is listed in the Table Of Contents for easy reference.  

The Following Are The Activities: 

★ Answering questions about the poem

★ Visualizing and drawing the poem

★ Coloring and tracing words found in the poem

★ Locating and writing rhyming words in the poem

★ Writing a new poem

★ Drawing the new poem  

The activities for 1st-2nd grade and 2nd-3rd grade are identical, allowing teachers to differentiate instruction between students. Answer keys are provided with sample student answers.
