    Description

This bundle was designed to provide quality lesson plans for band directors. These are also great sub plans in the event a band teacher has to be absent from school. Designed in Google Forms, the lessons are quick and easy for a director to assign and use in the band room.

Note: The lesson plan and all quizzes are in Google Forms, but we've also included printable quizzes/answer sheets if needed. The lesson plan itself though, is in only in Google Forms.

Each plan includes 3 sections, with student quizzes at the end of each portion:

    • History of the instrument
    • How the instrument is made
    • Famous instrumentalists and their music

**Bonus videos at the end for fast finishers!**

We believe that quality music listening can greatly improve a student’s playing abilities, so we made sure to include plenty of excellent listening examples. After listening, students will answer questions about the artist's playing (ex: What are your thoughts about his use of dynamics? Did he play with expression?) We also hope the variety of artists included may inspire your students to set their instrumental goals high!

Please click the GREEN PREVIEW button to get a detailed peek of what's inside this lesson plan.

THREE WAYS TO USE THIS LESSON PLAN:

    1. Students work independently on individual devices (at school or remote) You may choose to have students work independently on ipads or computers by sending them a link. This is a great option for remote learning or for a sub plan where all students have access to technology. Learn how to assign the lesson to students on the previous slide called “Instructions for Google Forms.” Note: if students work on individual devices at school, make sure they have headphones because of the videos and listening examples.
    2. An entire class views the lesson together via a projector/screen while filling out the included PDF worksheet by hand. This would be a great lesson plan if you do not have devices for each student. The teacher would use a projector and walk through the google forms lesson with the class. The printable quiz would need to be passed out to each student before starting the lesson.
    3. Sub Plan- see included detailed PDF with word-for-word instructions your sub can read aloud to your students when you are away from school. You would only need to leave the google forms link with the substitute, have them use a projector, and walk through the google forms lesson with the class. The substitute would need to pass out the printable worksheet to each students before starting the lesson.

    LESSON LENGTH:

This lesson plan was designed for middle school and high school level band students and takes approximately 30-45 minutes to complete depending on the age and abilities of your students. If a student finishes in less that 30 minutes, it is likely they did not watch each videos in their entirety. Please stress the importance of the videos to your students, as watching them all the way through is one the most important elements of this lesson. Note: Extra videos are included at the end of the lesson for fast finishers.
