What are Learning Targets and Success Criteria?

Learning Targets (also called Learning Intentions) and Success Criteria are quickly replacing the "Objectives" used to indicate learning goals to students. Here's their purpose:

Learning Target: What will we learn?

Rationale: Why should we learn it?

Success Criteria: How will I know I am successful?

Learning Targets are written in Common-Core aligned, yet student-friendly language and include the rationale statement, while the Success Criteria are written using "I can..." statements.
