What educators are saying

Fun way to teach students which states are found in each region of the United States that didn't involve coloring and labeling a map. Loved the self-checking feature.

Description

Make learning the states and their capitals easy and fun! This bundle includes 12 printable maps of the entire United States as well as maps of the regions by themselves. There are also 8 digital, self-correcting activities to help your students practice connecting the states with their capitals. Students love the colorful matching and maze activities to learn their capitals!

You can use the maps in any way you would like. There are fully labeled maps as well as blank maps with stars in the location of the capitals. These high quality maps with clean, crisp lines are so much better than the photocopied ditto machine prints I used when I was growing up!

Here’s the complete list of what is included:

  • Printable Full US Map in color and black & white, labeled with all states and capitals
  • Printable Full US map in color and black & white with no labels (useful for practice or assessments!)
  • 4 Printable US regional maps (PDFs) in color and white & white, labeled with all states and capitals
  • 4 Printable US regional map (PDFs) in color and black & white with no labels (useful for practice or assessments!) ***Regions are in accordance with the US Census Bureau division of regions: Northeast, South, West, and Midwest
  • 4 Digital Matching Activities set up by Regions - with each correct answer, the match is connected by a colored line to give immediate feedback to your students
  • 4 Digital Maze Activities set up by Regions - with each correct answer, the maze changes colors and leads the students to the next question, again providing immediate feedback. There are 2 versions - one that requires the students to type the capital name and the other has a drop down menu for them to choose the correct capital.
  • Answer Key to all activities!

Matching and Maze COLOR Reveal Activities are a great way to get students engaged in the lesson. Students get excited to see the colors appear with the correct answers.  The self-checking aspect of these activities gives them instant feedback and the ability to correct their answers.

For you, this means No-Prep and Easy Grading. These activities are created using Google Sheets, but will also work in Microsoft Excel. Simple open the Google Sheet, select the File Menu and then Download and MS Excel.

If you use Google classroom, these are simple to assign. Create a new assignment, attach the Google sheet from your Google drive, and be sure to check, “Assign a copy for each student.”
