Description

Teach your beginning writers how to write a simple story with my interactive SmartBoard lesson! The lesson focuses on creating a simple story (beginning event, 2-3 middle events, ending event). A story starter is provided as the beginning event.

The file contains the following lessons.

1. Introduction to short stories: anchor poster, interactive pages to learn about the parts of a story, a sample simple story (erase to reveal the story events), choose a title (push tabs).

2. Modeling Lessons (2 lessons): links to short story videos and a website with short stories, beginning event (erase to reveal), pages for recording middle and ending events and creating a title

3. Dealing with Dialogue - This part of the lesson focuses on writing events without any dialogue. I have included 2 pages to address the issue of dialogue (sample story with too much dialogue and one with no dialogue). These pages can be deleted if you want your students to be allowed to use dialogue in their stories.

4. Story Starters: printable page with three simple story starters that can be glued to writing paper and a customizeable page for creating more story starters.

Have fun with your little authors!
