Description

- Powerpoint slides to the learn names & functions of the muscles used in different sports, with videos + printable reference cards for physical education

With this essential PE resource you’ll be equipped with an interactive presentation of the key muscles in the body. It’s a fantastic way to introduce (& recap) the anatomy and biomechanics of muscles through engaging, clear videos and diagrams, and can be used across multiple grades in elementary and high school.

What’s in this resource?

1. Powerpoint slides for ‘muscles in sports’

The .pptx file shows all the major muscles that are used when playing different sport skills. Clear diagrams and facts are given for each area. Each muscle group is accompanied with a video clip explaining in further details how the muscles are used, with demonstrations of me (Coach Danny!) showing how they’re used in sport-specific skills. The muscles we cover are:

• Pectorals (chest)

• Biceps & triceps (arms)

• Deltoids (shoulders)

• Trapezius (upper back)

• Latissimus dorsi (back)

• Abdominals & obliques (core)

• Gluteals (buttocks)

• Quadriceps & hamstrings (legs)

• Gastrocnemius (lower legs)

There’s also a multiple choice quiz at the end to test and check for understanding

2. Printable cards + posters

For additional reference there's 11 high-quality printable cards to put up in the gymnasium, plus additional posters with labels for each of the muscles.

Who is this ESSENTIAL resource for?

Any teacher from grade 3 through to grade 9 (and even above) can use this presentation with their students. Younger grades will gain a basic concept of why we need muscles, while older students will recap on the proper names, and how they are applicable in the sports they play.

This is an engaging tool for all sport classes, and an excellent reference when teaching various components of physical education. (You can email if me if you'd like the apple/keynote files)
