*************************Full Curriculum Description*************************

Students will explore the topic of criminal law through a variety of perspectives, utilizing various methods such as written materials and films to gain perspective. An effort will be made to relate course content and materials to current events wherever possible. Students will gain an understanding of the duties of attorneys who work in the criminal justices system.

Standards:

The New York State Department of Education has defined the following Social Studies Standards, which correlate to this elective course curriculum:

Standard 1: History of the United States and New York

Standard 2: World History

Standard 3: Geography

Standard 4: Economics

Standard 5: Civics, Citizenship, and Government

All five standards will be addressed in this class, but Standards 1 and 5 will be emphasized.
