Description
Students often get confused when learning a new case. How each case is used and how to translate them can be difficult to keep track of as students come across both new cases and new uses for each case. This poster simplifies the process by listing each Latin case and its common uses. While it is not exhaustive, the information on this poster gives enough guidance for students to understand and discuss most nouns in passages with elevated confidence.
This poster includes information on:
- Nominative case - subject of sentences
- Genitive case - possession, partitive, and descriptive
- Dative case - indirect object or object of a special verb
- Accusative case - direct objects or object of a preposition (motion towards/near)
- Ablative case - means, agent, time, place, separation, manner, accompaniment
- Vocative case - direct address
- Locative case - lists words that use it
This poster would be a great addition to any Latin classroom at any level or for any textbook series. It can be used for introducing new cases or review, and can be referenced when students are seeing a new use of a case.
