A Blended Learning lesson on 4 different poems by Langston Hughes that can also be used as stand-alone lessons.

This lesson is Common Core aligned to the Literacy Standard across all grades. Students have to interpret figurative language and connotative meanings. They will have to analyze the impact of specific word choices on meaning and tone, including analogies. Langston Hughes wrote a poem describing how a wall closes in on a man's dream. The wall represents the inequality that African-Americans went through during the time of segregation. In the end, students will have to write their own poems using this literary device.
