Kirchhoff's Laws ATL - Differentiation

The six teaching approaches and five learning approaches serve as guiding principles for educators and students within IB World Schools.

These approaches revolve around a continuous cycle of inquiry, action, and reflection—a dynamic interplay of questioning, doing, and thinking that shapes the daily activities of both teachers and learners.

I have prepared this lesson in light of these ATL. I know from my experience, that the student always struggles in this topic and find it hard. so I prepared this differentiated lesson to meet the needs of all learners.

After introducing the students to Kirchhoff's current and voltage laws (included in the presentation), I proposed to the students a project to investigate Kirchhoff's Laws.

I asked my IB students to choose a partner to work on one part of the project that included three different methods to investigate the laws based on their capabilities and needs, (experimental, simulation, and theoretical analysis). Each team prepared a presentation to explain their role in the project and compared the obtained results with results from other students.

This lesson was really useful and the students were nicely collaborating and learning from each other. They were happy to find out that they got a close result from all approaches.

At the end, I included in the presentation some assessment question to measure the students understandings.
