Description

Bring MORE kindness into the classroom! Set kindness goals as a class and discuss all the ways to be kind.

Includes:
- Kindness Cone "Sprinkle Kindness Wherever You Go" display (to be cut and pasted onto A2 card)
- 24 Kindness Prompt cards to help students generate ideas to show more kindness
- Ice-cream scoop printable
- 'KINDNESS' word comes in colour or B&W options

Step 1: Explain why kindness is such an important part of life. In short: being kind to others makes the other person feel good, and it makes us feel good, too! Kindness helps us to build strong, caring relationships.

Step 2: Brainstorm ways to show kindness to others. Use the cards as prompts.

Step 3: Set a target (goal) using the special ‘sprinkle scoop’. Set new targets often by simply moving the sprinkle scoop further away from the display. Ask:
‘Do you think we can reach this goal in one week?’
’If we make our goal much bigger, do you still think we can achieve it in one week?’
‘How long might it take if it’s _____ far away?’
‘How can we achieve our goal faster?’
‘Do we need to make a plan to reach our goal?’

Step 4: Record acts of kindness using ice cream scoops. Every time a student carries out an act of kindness, they can colour a scoop and add it to the ice cream cone. Discuss the act of kindness as soon as it happens if you get the opportunity!

Step 5: Reflect on scoops added each day. Ask students:
’How did giving kindness make you feel?’
‘How did receiving kindness make you feel?’
’What are some ideas we can try when we get home?’

Younger children can:
Simply colour a scoop and add it to the Kindness Cone
Colour a scoop AND add their name to it (at bottom of scoop)

Older children can:
Write the specific act of kindness on the scoop, then colour it.
