What educators are saying

Started this with my now kindergarten before he gets into first grade! Using over the summer to get him where he needs to be for first grade. He’s already drawing little stories and making his own little books. Getting the next unit soon!
Love this writing resource! Lessons are laid out in a way that’s easy to follow and prep what I need. Will definitely be getting the other units.

Description

Scribbles to Stories™ is a 10 unit kindergarten writing curriculum for classroom and homeschool learning environments. It can be used in a workshop model setting, as shared writing, in structured literacy programs, in small groups, or as independent writing. Each unit comes with detailed daily lesson plans, mentor text guide with diverse and inclusive titles, student reference posters and anchor charts, writing paper options, check lists, graphic organizers, certificate, and classroom library bin label. The detailed lesson plans include a title, lesson goals to use for I Can statements, materials list, scripted portions, explicit instruction directions, and reflection invitations. Scribbles to Stories™ is a comprehensive curriculum designed by a veteran kindergarten teacher, tested, tweaked, and perfected through countless years of use and hundreds of students taught. The lessons and materials are designed using Universal Design for Learning to best meet the needs of a diverse student population.

Unit 1: I Can Draw takes students from picking up a pencil through drawing a 3 part story. Before we are ready to write the words of a story, we learn about being an illustrator. Through vivid Caldecott text examples and targeted lesson prompts, students will develop their skills as an illustrator. They will learn how to draw a variety of characters and settings, add emotion, action, and detail, and draw a full story including a beginning, middle, and end with a problem and solution. They will learn about mistakes and perseverance, giving and receiving critique and compliments, the parts of the cover of a book, and how to publish and throw a book launch party to celebrate their success!

With Scribbles to Stories™ you can take the guesswork out of your writing block and know that you are providing a developmentally appropriate and sequenced writing program for your learners. This will be a full school year, 10 unit, curriculum with a new unit releasing each month! Let's become authors and illustrators!
