What educators are saying

All of Natalie Lynn Kindergarten's units have been amazing! So excited to use this for our narrative unit!
I love how it is broken down by days for the lesson plan. It describes what to do with each section, which is VERY helpful since I am not as strong with teaching writing. It has helped teach the children immensely.

Description

After students know how to tell a story with pictures, it’s time for them to tell that story through writing My Kindergarten Narrative Writing Unit from my Kindergarten Writing Curriculum teaches students how to tell a story through writing and stretch that writing over pages.

Little writers will also begin learning how to stay on topic, how to stretch out words and the story, how to make their story their best writing, and how to know when they are done writing.

What if my students are not ready to write sentences?

Although this unit focuses on writing with sentences and the end goal is to have students write a 3-page story, you will most likely have students who are not ready to write sentences. They can still write their full story using pictures. If you think they are ready, you can begin pushing them to write some words or use guided writing lines (just be careful that they do not become dependent on these). Students will be coming back to narrative writing in the Small Moment Narratives unit.

Narrative Writing is the third unit in my Kindergarten Writing Curriculum:
