Description

This kindergarten summer review packet is the perfect way to bridge the gap between kindergarten and first grade. These engaging zoo themed print and go worksheets will help prevent the summer slide by reviewing many of the basic concepts from kindergarten. This kindergarten summer packet is designed for students leaving kindergarten and entering first grade - think first grade readiness!

Are all standards covered in this kindergarten summer review packet?
There are over 40 math and language arts skills included in this packet, so not every standard is covered but a lot of them are! Take a peek at the preview to see the table of contents and all the concepts included. If you feel like something important is missing, please reach out at heather@teachingwithcreationcastle.com and we can chat about adding more content.

What materials do my students need to complete this packet?
As you know, not all students have access to the same materials at home as they do at school. These no prep worksheets were designed with that in mind, so there are no cut and paste worksheets. The only materials your students will need are a pencil, crayons, and a paperclip.

The paperclip is only required for the word families worksheet, so if you don't think your students will have access to that, I would leave that page out.

Are the pages numbered?
No, they are not - and this was done intentionally. As this zoo themed kindergarten summer review packet will be used by a wide variety of students, I wanted to give you the flexibility to leave out any pages you felt were unnecessary. For example, your students may not need the alphabet review pages. However, another teacher may want to include those and leave out the r blend review page because they did not cover that skill. The fact is first grade readiness looks different from school to school across the world and I wanted to give you the opportunity to customize these packets for your students.

The lack of page numbers also gives you the flexibility to rearrange the pages in any order you want. When you download your PDF, you'll find the language arts pages followed by the math pages. You may want to shuffle the pages around to keep your students on their toes as they are working towards first grade readiness over the summer.

How should I send this home with my students?

I would highly suggest binding your review packet together using a comb or spiral. If you don't have access to those materials, I would still staple the pages together. This gives students a better chance of completing all the pages because they will be kept together.

I would also recommend sending home a couple of fresh pencils and new pack of crayons if you have the supplies to help students complete the pages.

If nothing else, I would run your copies double sided to save on paper! Because none of the pages require cutting, students can still complete all the pages if you run your copies front and back.

Can I use this in my classroom too?

Sure, any of these pages can be used on their own in your classroom. With these themed pages, it might be a great resource to pull from if you go on a zoo field trip!

Why isn't there a space for students to write their names?
This kindergarten summer review packet was designed to be sent home as a tool for first grade readiness. Therefore, your students won't be turning in each individual page.

Should you choose to use these pages at school, students could write their names on the back of the paper.

Do you have any other resources for the end of the year?
Yes! Check out this kindergarten end of the year bundle for an ABC countdown to summer, a memory book, and a set of classroom awards! I also offer a similar kindergarten review packet with a beach theme.
