What educators are saying

Love using your other daily warm ups with my kiddos! This will be a great addition to our daily math talks.
Used this resource before math block to practice number sense skills. Highly recommend for kindergarten! My students' number sense skills soared this year!

Description

Do your students need extra help subitizing and understanding numbers within 10? Or do they have a hard time decomposing numbers to 10?

Then the Number Sense within 10 Math Talk Daily Routine is just right for you and your kids!

What is it?

A daily number sense routine that builds meaningful and highly engaging math discussions. This routine focuses on a Number of the Week (i.e. numbers 2 through 10). One number is the main focus for 5 days of math discussion. There are 9 weeks of math talk routines.

How many math talk activities are included?

This awesome pack contains 45 math talks that are individually saved to pdf files. The best part is that the math talk routines. They are easily organized so that you can meet the needs of your students and stretch their number sense.

How does this routine build number sense?

It focuses on the 4 critical parts of early number sense including:

  • One less and One more
  • Benchmarks to 5 and 10
  • Part-Part-Whole Relationships

** The best part is that there are 2 versions included: Paperless AND Printable.**

Each routine:

  • includes a counting warm up activity
  • uses different models to represent the Number of the Week
  • contains 4 questions

How can this routine be used?

I recommend using this as a daily warm up for 45 days. Complete one activity per day. This is also a great math hook or number sense review .

How does it work?

Simply bring your students to the front of the Interactive Whiteboard, project the daily activity and provide students opportunities to discuss. The answers are provided!
