Description

Use optional Anno's Counting Book and THIS resource to teach counting, number formation, quantity, number order, numerical connections with environment, and more.

The use of Anno's Counting Book by Mitsumasa Anno is completely optional, but use it if you have it; kids love it!

With this resource, students make their own 10-page (plus cover) counting book for numbers 1-10, while they learn and have fun! The book is 8.5"x11" horizontal (landscape) format. It is suggested that you only teach one number per day/lesson by following the included teaching Tips for Success!

Students will have the chance to participate in discussion to identify things in their world that come in groups of 1... 2... 3, etc. Students will learn how to properly form each number which is traced by first placing their pencil tip at the "start dot". Students will also draw a scene for each number that includes groups of things for a specific number. For example, two blankets, two baskets, two drinks, two sandwiches, two trees, and two squirrels could be included for a number 2 practice page picnic scene!

Plus, students will be so proud to bring these counting books home when finished.

Includes:

11 Blacklines (1 cover page and 10 student practice pages for #1-10)

Standards

to see state-specific standards (only available in the US).
Count to 100 by ones and by tens.
Write numbers from 0 to 20. Represent a number of objects with a written numeral 0-20 (with 0 representing a count of no objects).
Understand the relationship between numbers and quantities; connect counting to cardinality.
When counting objects, say the number names in the standard order, pairing each object with one and only one number name and each number name with one and only one object.
Understand that the last number name said tells the number of objects counted. The number of objects is the same regardless of their arrangement or the order in which they were counted.
