"Keys to Treasure" Piano Unit for grades 4-6
Description
Want to teach a piano unit but have a limited number of keyboards in your classroom? This is a fun and motivational pirate-themed piano unit that will last about 3-4 months! This unit was designed for the general music classroom, grades 4-6, with a minimum of 6 keyboards/pianos. Students work in groups for this unit. However this unit can also be adapted for piano labs and for other grade levels. This unit includes everything you will need to teach students how to play the piano from square one! This has been a favorite in my classroom for the past 11 years! This package includes the following:
- Complete, detailed instructions of how to prepare for and conduct the unit lessons.
- Class chart, "treasure map," practice keyboard
- 5 songs (missions) for students starting from scratch
- 5 alternate songs (missions) for students with prior piano experience
- Worksheets to accompany each mission
- Certificate of completion (black & white and also in color)
Students will be extremely motivated to test for each mission in order to "find the treasure." Students love seeing their progress reflected on their treasure maps! This is an amazing resource that is very adaptable and full of excellent materials!
