Key Details with Picture and Reading Passage WH Questions IEP Goal Review Autism

This a reading worksheet printable packet to identify the key ideas and key details, along with WH questions for 2nd to 3rd grade level reading comprehension with a picture and reading passage for reading comprehension IEP goal skills (you may provide this activity to your students in older grades to adapt to their current reading skills). Extend this Special Education reading activity by encouraging the student to describe the picture, talk about what is occurring, by using sentences, adjectives, and more. Implement for students with autism, ESY supplement, summer review, beginning of the year refresher, one-on-one teaching, literacy center, tutoring, speech and language therapy, or even as a substitute bin filler!

The reading worksheets and suggested IEP goals are aligned with Kindergarten, or students developing early reading skills.

WHAT EXACTLY IS A “REVIEW PACKET FOR IEP GOALS”?

Each review packet contains “uncluttered” (less cutesy, distraction free) printables that are aligned with academic or social-emotional state standards. The skill sets are, in most instances, adapted to fit the learning needs of special education students. The Review Packets for IEP Goals are designed to encourage independent work practice for those who can, and additional support for those students who may need it. WHAT AGE OR GRADE LEVEL WOULD YOU SUGGEST THIS WORKSHEET PACKET FOR?

Although this IEP goal review packet is aligned with early/mid elementary (2-3) skills, it may support any learner who is currently developing reading skills accessing reading resources on this grade level. As we know, our children all learn at their own pace and this resource is adaptable for all students learning to read by using color words, nouns, and visuals (picture).

HOW WILL THIS IEP GOAL REVIEW PACKET HELP MY STUDENT/CHILD?

This packet provides extra practice to supplement classroom lessons, therapy session resource, summer review to prevent reading skills regression, independent work to support inclusion, reading resource, or early intervention. Each page can be printed, or laminated to reuse with a dry erase marker. Each page contains an area to track the child’s progress to monitor for skill progression.

DOES THE IEP GOAL REVIEW PACKET COME WITH IEP GOALS?

YES! Here are suggested IEP goals which align with this IEP Goal Review packet:

· 1. Given a picture and a grade level passage to read, STUDENT will predict or explain what is occurring in the picture and read the passage in order to determine correct responses to four “wh” key detail questions, with 80% accuracy, in 4 out of 5 opportunities, by MONTH, YEAR.

· 2. Given a picture and a grade level passage to read, STUDENT will read the passage in order to answer four “wh” questions related to the passage in order to demonstrate reading comprehension skills/mastery/progression, with 80% accuracy, in 4 out of 5 opportunities, by MONTH, YEAR.
