This special creation is applicable to many ability and grade levels. This is lab is LOADED starting with Kepler’s 3 Laws. First, the law of ellipses. Second, the law of equal areas. Third, the law of periods. Primary topics tackled in this lab activity are models of the solar system, history of astronomy, orbital properties (similarities and differences), a detailed and dynamic math based ellipse lab, eccentricity, aphelion, perihelion, and much, much more.

This is a thorough and DYNAMIC activity that covers a ton of information about planetary orbits. This has been used as both a lab and an assessment. This is an effective teaching tool in small groups and as a class.
