What educators are saying

My students loved using this resource along with the Kate DiCamillo novels. Using the novel study guide helped my students practice finding evidence in the text. It also led to deeper, more meaningful discussions about the novels.
This really helped organize our review of chapters before reading the next chapters. Great questions and activities!

    Description

This bundle includes 3 Kate DiCamillo book studies. The three classic books included are:

    The Tale of Despereaux

    Because of Winn-Dixie

The Miraculous Journey of Edward Tulane

These book study activities will make these amazing books even easier! Each book study is a packet filled with reading and writing activities and includes comprehension questions. Students respond to each of the comprehension questions in their own packet that culminate into a booklet. These book studies are an ideal addition to any 3rd-5th grade book study. I have personally used them to run different book clubs in my classroom and keep all groups on task. This gives students independence during book clubs and studies. It will also allow students to compare books using one author. These are also great to lead your guided reading groups!

These comprehension activities focus on analyzing the main characters, comparing the characters’ traits, plot elements, deeper discussion, and questioning of the story elements. If you are looking to extend your students' knowledge without much planning, these guides will be great for your classroom. These are the kind of books that makes students love reading! Then end each of the books with SIX fun activities to do with your students to check their comprehension!

This guide will help you to improve both your students' reading and writing skills in a variety of ways.
