One of the most inspiring, impactful, and empowering books of the last several years, Just Mercy recounts the story of lawyer and civil rights activist Bryan Stevenson, his non-profit organization, The Equal Justice Initiative. Just Mercy tells of the work Stevenson and the organization do to represent clients on death row. Students will be inspired by his life and his life's mission but shocked by America's criminal justice history over the last fifty years.

This 50-question multiple-choice test assesses the mastery of the book Just Mercy.

The test was created for a college-level first-year English composition course. However, the test can be used in an AP English Language, AP English Literature, US history, Sociology, or a criminal justice class. If Just Mercy is a summer reading or independent reading choice, the test is appropriate for assessing students' knowledge of the book.

The test focuses on the claims and evidence of Stevenson as he details his life's work.
