Jim Dine Hearts Art Lesson: Valentine's Day Pop Art Heart Project & Sub Plans

Ready to liven up your elementary art curriculum with a fun Valentine’s Day art project? This Jim Dine art lesson of a heart will boost student confidence and creativity. Kids will be delighted by his Pop Art heart paintings. Moreover, they’ll connect with his personal style of impasto painting on canvas.

During this art project, your class will discover why Jim Dine paints hearts and prints hand tools. They’ll learn about Pop Art, artwork from popular culture. And, they’ll recognize 3 complementary color families. Students will create a Pop Art heart drawing with oil pastels using the step-by-step guide and PowerPoint.
