Unit Objectives:

• Students will learn the foundations of Objects, Properties, and Methods with demonstrations and applications.
• Students will design and create JavaScript coding with Referencing Elements.
• Students will analyze and create a snake game using JavaScript.
• Students will create innovative artifacts or solve authentic problems with JavaScript while coding a pong game.

This unit plan is designed to teach students the basics of JavaScript coding. Students will gain knowledge on commonly used tags that cover:

• JavaScript Objects, Properties & Methods
• Referencing Elements In JavaScript

Students learn these skills by completing two activities where they practice coding with an example and then have to put a twist on each coding activity. Students will also code eleven coding lessons to complete a Snake Game Project, which is great for strengthening their coding skills. Students will also complete a Pong Game Project in this unit to show off their coding skills. This unit is a great way to introduce Javascript coding for your students in an accessible format while helping build their coding confidence one activity at a time.

This unit is infused with technology and real-world application and is designed to be engaging and rigorous. It is the perfect unit for any technology, computer, STEAM, or business class.

This unit plan is conducted through lectures, engaging activities, group-paced instruction, and discussion. Assignments range from a mix of daily assignments, time, projects graded on effort/attempt, and a project graded on overall appearance and completion of given requirements.
