Japanese: IT HURTS: a complete teaching and learning resource
- Zip
Description
BODY PARTS are frequently taught in Primary Japanese language programs, beginning with the popular 'Heads, Shoulders, Knees and Toes' song. ( eg. GenkiJapan version https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=98rDSRw7sv0).
This unit creates a purpose for learning body part vocabulary by using the question answer pattern of
どこ が いたい です か。
XXX が いたい です。
This then lends itself to a roleplay skit of a patient visiting a doctor, which is fun, engaging and makes a useful oral assessment task.
In this unit 15 body parts are introduced using mnemonic stories. Picture flashcard versions of the stories further aid memorisation.
Pages for a student activity book are included and present a variety of tasks, including quick quizzes.
Supplementary resources include mnemonic picture cards and 'stories', body part flashcards and playing cards, Boggle cards, a colourful game board
( how to play is in the student activity book) and more! There is an original song, using a karaoke version of a GenkiEnglish song (MP3 included with permission from Richard Graham). Another song is also included to add variety to your classes. I picked it up many years ago at a PD and would love to credit the creator but do no know their name.
I have taught this down to Year 2 level, but it would be equally suitable for older students, depending on their experience.
