    Description

This is a bundle of my 2 best selling Japanese card games about Japan's Culture: Karuta Holidays&Festivals and Iroha Karuta Proverbs.

Karuta is a Japanese card game in which two sets of cards are used: the yomifuda "reading cards" and the torifuda "grabbing cards." Students race each other to determine which grabbing card corresponds to the clue from the reading card and then to claim the correct card first.

This is a game where you need to print, cut (and laminate) the cards.

    Includes:

    1. Japanese Festivals and Holidays edition
    • 20 Japanese holidays (40 cards in 7 PDF pages)
    • The holidays are: New Year's Eve Oshogatsu, Coming of Age Day Seijin no hi, Setsubun Bean Throwing Festival, Valentine's Day, Hina Matsuri Doll's Day Girls' Day, White Day, Hanami Cherry blossom viewing, Greenery Day Midori no Hi, Children's Day Kodomo no hi, Rainy Season Tsuyu, Star Festival Tanabata, Marine Day Umi no hi, Mountain Day Yama no hi, Bon Festival Obon, Moon rabbit viewing Tsukimi, Respect for the Aged Day, Health and Sports Day Taiiku no hi, Culture Day Bunka no hi, 7-5-3 Festival Shichi go san, Christmas.

    2. Iroha Karuta: Japanese Proverbs

    • editable powerpoint about the Iroha poem and how to play the game for your students (8 slides)
    • PDF with teacher's direction

black&white version (no illustrations, only text) (24 pages)

    color version (24 pages)

    • 48 hiragana letters, each with a corresponding proverb (2 letters+2
      proverbs per page)

Because there are no words starting with "n", this character was replaced with the character "kyo" 京きょう for "capital" as a nod to the game's origins in Kyoto.

ゑ ( "we") and ゐ ("wi" ) are also included, with readings.
