Description
This bundle focuses on how Japanese culture and practices changed as Japan made contact with the West in the Meiji period. It has a 30 slide PowerPoint Presentation and 14 page Student Workbook that covers how the Shogunate began to loose power in Japan, returning power to the Emperor, and how this ended Japan's isolation. Take a deeper look into how Japanese culture changed and how Japan raced to catch up with the rest of the world. See how Japan dealt with rapid change but still managed to keep or adapt their culture.
The 30 slides include:
- pictures, from my time in Japan or fair use, that allow students to see different views and allow for greater understanding of the Japanese Culture.
- Vocabulary Slides with answers
- Workbook style questions that include answers in-slide.
- Charts and Fill-in the blacks
The workbook includes:
- 37 questions about Japan in the Meiji Period and their contact with the West
- 12 Vocabulary words
- Workbook style questions that include charts and fill-in the blacks
This presentation has been made with the help and in-class use of the textbook "Worldviews - Contact and Change" (Chapter 15 - Alberta Grade 8 Social Studies Curriculum) but can be used alone or with other available resources. With purchase the workbook is alterable to fit your needs in the classroom.
The PowerPoint presentation and Student Workbook are designed to be used together. At this time all answers are in the PowerPoint and there is not a separate answer key.
