Description
Use this independent research assignment to awaken your students' interest in Japan. Students may chose any area of Japanese life and culture they would like to research. Step -by- step instruction on how to conduct the project is provided and is ready to go in student friendly language. Resources and websites for students to visit are included.
The project also includes a Memo writing activity that might be used as a checking point or a formative assessment before the entire project is completed. The memo helped me keeping students on task and provided an opportunity for me to check for misunderstanding or additional help students might need in the process of research.
My students love this project. It allows them to be as creative as they possibly can and explore the area they enjoy the most.
Some of the projects my students have created in the past are: a book about popular sport in Japan, a travel brochure of popular tourist destinations in Japan, a cookbook of Japanese food; a mobile explaining different ranks of Samurai, a flip book demonstrating geisha's art, music, dance, a power point presentation, and a tri-fold display. The project is in Word format for easy edit.
