January Whole Month of Historical Journal Topics & Discussions Bellwork

Start each class with a quick write journal entry and discussion based on a historical event that happened each day in history. This is a fantastic way to engage students in more material than just the standards or reading you scheduled for the day. Students get their minds warmed up to thinking, practice writing, and learn something "extra" for their day in history! It also sparks great conversations and bell work for the month of January.

Starting in January with this series is a great way to set the course for the second half of the school year. You can even have students research their journals further and report on more details about events they find intriguing.
