January Sunday School: New Year, Same Jesus!

This interactive, engaging, and FUN Sunday School Lesson comes from 2 Corinthians 5:17, Hebrews 13:8, and Ephesians 3:16-19! This lesson is called “New Year, Same Jesus!“ We are made new in Christ because of His unchanging love! This lesson can be done all at once, or you can break it apart into multiple weeks! In this lesson, you will find:

• Teacher Notes: You can read this portion to the students to help them gain a deeper understanding of God’s Love! You can read this while they color, before the interactive read, or whenever you choose!

• Goal-Setting Worksheets for 2024! Children will begin by learning how to set a goal and the differences between short-term goals and long-term goals. They will fill out the Brainstorm Page to come up with their own goals! Each individual goal has a page dedicated to it. Students will write down the goal, circle if it’s long-term or short-term, draw a picture of them achieving the goal, and then write down the small steps they can take to reach it. Children will celebrate their success and track their progress by coloring a star for each small step they take to reach their goals! This helps students stay accountable as well as learn how to track their progress toward their goals. Finally, there is a 2024 Goal Sheet where the kids can write their goals down in one place. This can be displayed on a bulletin board at church or sent home to share with families!

• 7 Coloring Pages! These engaging and fun coloring pages are based around the New Year, & the memory verse: 2 Corinthians 5:17

• Interactive Read-Aloud/Posters: For this portion, the teacher will read the included Interactive Read-Aloud. Some words in the story are in bold. These words match the words on the Interactive-Read-Aloud Posters. Each poster has a word paired with a special phrase. Choose helpers to hold these posters while the story is read aloud. When the teacher gets to a word in bold, students shout out the phrase on the poster! This keeps the children engaged while they listen and participate in scripture reading!

• • There are TWO options for the posters: black & white or color).

• • There are mini-posters that can be printed, laminated, and placed on popsicle sticks for the students to hold up at the appropriate time in the Read-Aloud! This builds student engagement and encourages 100% participation. *There are two options for ”Jesus Loves Me”

• • One fun option is to divide the Sunday School class into three sections based on the Interactive Read-Aloud Posters. Have one student hold the poster, and the rest of the kids in that group hold the mini-poster on the popsicle stick that matches that poster. Each group is in charge of one individual word during the Read-Aloud.
