‘Buta Ga Ita Kyoshitsu’ (‘School Days With a Pig’) (PG13?) is a movie in 2008. It is based on a true and controversial event that took place in an elementary school in Osaka in 1990-1993. A teacher and his sixth grade class raise a piglet together. It is a realistic and educational movie requiring the students to think on the cycle of life and to reflect on whether humans have the right to end other animals’ life.

ワークシートは、映画の内容についての簡単な質問と、ディスカッショントピックになる質問です。映画を見たあとに書いてもらいます。見た映画の内容の確認を兼ねています。映画を見たあと、何を感じたか、感想を述べ合ったり、意見交換をする場を設けてみてください。思いもかけない質問や意見が出て来て、映画クラスのあとのディスカッションは教える側も勉強になります。

「ブタがいた教室」は２００８年の映画です。１９９０−１９９３の間、実際に大阪の小学校６年生の教室で行われた「命の授業」を元にして作られています。育てたブタを食べるか、食べないか。子供達が出した涙の答えは？台本無しの子供達の白熱した討論が圧巻です。この映画は封切り後、世論が賛否両論に分かれました。私のクラスでも、学生の間で最も白熱した議論が展開された映画の一つです。
