Description

Assessment Overview:

1. Students plan a presentation which includes an itinerary for a trip abroad.

2. Students prepare a persuasive and informative presentation detailing the trip.

Presentations should include:
- a clearly identified country, city abroad
- activities which are both entertaining and culturally relevant
- information essential to travel (flight costs, hotel costs, flag and currency, location and climate, major landmarks/attractions, basic phrases)
- supporting details to entice the audience in favor of the trip

3. Students add visuals to aid presentation of the itinerary.

Procedures:

1. Teacher explains the objectives of the project and reviews all directions.

2. Teacher provides examples of procedures as outlined in the project description.

3. Teacher reviews how the assessment will be graded using the rubric and checks for understanding.

4. Teacher provides students due dates for both the outline / rough draft and for the final project.

5. Students may spend some time researching possible destinations for making more specific plans.

6. Students may be asked to turn in rough drafts (as the teacher prefers) so that the teacher may address any students in need of more assistance.

7. Students may be asked to present their projects to the class, on video or to the teacher, as preferred.

8. Students may be asked to grade themselves as part of an on-going reflection using the rubric provided.

9. Teachers may have students answer the peer observation questions as they listen to each presentation.
