Italian Passato Prossimo 4 Activities Mystery Art, Escape Room, Task Cards, Race

These are excellent activities to help your students start practicing and recognizing the passato prossimo or an activity to provide more practice for the struggling student. All are little to no prep!

The Task Cards:
The NINE activities include (with a total of 90 questions):

- TWO match the sentence to the picture it represents - one with the passato

prossimo with essere and one with avere. (10 questions)

- Match the English translation of a sentence to the Italian sentence with the passato prossimo with avere. (12 questions)

- TWO Match the correct subject to each sentence one with the passato prossimo with essere and one with avere. (18 questions)

- Drag the verb to the correct sentence with passato prossimo with essere. (10
questions)

- THREE conjugate the verbs in the form of the passato prossimo - one with the
passato prossimo with essere, one with avere and one combined. (40 questions)

The mystery picture activity

This activity is for students to practice conjugating the passato prossimo in Italian.  There are a total of 24 sentences for which students need to conjugate or choose verbs. They are all regular participles. There are two versions - multiple choice and type in.

When you assign your students each their own individual copy a picture will magically appear as they type in correct answers.  If an answer does not fill in some boxes towards completing the picture they will know they have answered incorrectly and need to review their work. 

The Escape Room

The breakout includes 4 activities all focused on the use of the passato prossimo for students to solve. The four activities include - two where the students have to place the appropriate (already conjugated) verbs into sentences and two where the students have to conjugate the passato prossimo forms. Once they have completed each activity they need to decipher information to reveal the "keys/codes" to the four locks. As a breakout/escape room this part of the activity takes problems solving skills and thinking outside the box! The last page is the codice page where students fill in their codes to see if they can open all of the locks.

A full answer key, teacher instructions and explanations (including hints to provide struggling students) on how to decipher all of the codes are included. *The doc is fully editable if you need to add/delete footnotes etc. to help with your students comprehension level.

The two player digital race

Students compete typing in or choosing (there are two versions) the correct conjugation of the passato prossimo with avere. As students answer questions a path lights up leading Clara to her lost dog. The first person to light up the entire path wins!
