    Iqbal Novel by Francesco D'Adamo Quizzes - Print and Digital Versions

    This product includes 4 multiple choice quizzes for sections of Iqbal by Francesco D’Adamo. Each quiz has 15 questions. The questions ask students to reference their texts during the quiz so that students are learning even in the assessment. Altogether, there is a total of 60 questions for the novel. One section includes four chapters of the book - In my classroom, students read one chapter each day Monday - Thursday, and have the section quiz on Friday.

    Sample Questions:

    Fatima is _____ years old. (page 5) 

    a) 10

    b) 7

    c) 20

    d) 14

    On page 34 it says, “Hussain, nervous and excited, paced around the workshop. Suddenly he stopped and turned white.”  Why does Hussain stop walking around nervously?

    a) The foreign customers arrive and he wants to stop and say hello to them.

    b) He realizes Fatima escaped out the window.

    c) He sees that Iqbal finished his unique blue carpet.

    d) He remembers he forgot to eat breakfast.

    I included two versions of each quiz. Both versions have answer keys.

    One version is for printing. These are editable word documents and ready to print back to back on one page. The answer key is in the same document.

    Another version is electronic “blackboard” versions for downloading into most common Learning Management Systems such as Schoology, and Google Classroom. I also included instructions for use which have pictures and descriptions to help you successfully utilize the resources.

    Iqbal Novel by Francesco D'Adamo Discussion Questions and Writing Prompts

    This product includes:

    • 16 Discussion Questions and Writing Prompts for each of the chapters and the introduction of the novel Iqbal

    The questions are text-to-text, text-to-self or text-to-world format. This style of question encourages students to engage more deeply with the text, and build more personal connections to their learning. It also encourages empathy.

    Iqbal Novel Vocabulary Study Tools

    This product includes vocabulary study tools to pair with the reading and discussion of the novel Iqbal by Francesco D'Adamo. The tools include:

    • 20 + Vocabulary terms - These terms utilize affixes for broader vocabulary growth. Words occur within the novel, or are helpful terms to utilize when discussing the novel
    • Student friendly definitions of each of the vocabulary terms - I use these words and definitions with Level 1 -2 EL students
    • Word wall of select vocabulary terms, definitions, and example sentences - I post these words in my classroom and encourage students to use them in their discussion and writing daily

    Iqbal Final Research and Writing Project

    This product includes student directions and assessment rubric for a final writing project to culminate a unit on the novel Iqbal.

    The project involves independent research to connect fiction with non-fiction elements. The writing assignment is scaffolded for EL students, but can be easily adapted for various learners

    Child Labor Nonfiction Digital Book

    This product includes a 14 page e-book PDF which provides background knowledge about child labor in the United States and around the world. It provides facts and statistics, as well as information about problems and solutions. The book also includes 5 post reading discussion questions.

    Interactive Notebook

    This is a reading guide and reference for students to use and interact with while reading. The notebook has many sections including key vocabulary, nonfiction background, novel organization, setting, characters, plot summary, and information about the author.
